Mindfulness at Work

Reducing Stress and Mastering Turmoil

This program is offered as a 1.5 hour introduction or a full day of training with an hour spent on each module below. The cost varies based on the number of people in attendance and the length of the program.  Participants in this course are often stressed out and want new approaches to work.  They want to leave work with energy left over, optimism for their careers and organizations, and hope for the future.

Managing the Environment


  • Setting an Energy Field - We discover the cornerstones of creating an energy field.  Participants apply the concept to their every-day work environments. Learning how to lift the energy helps everyone work more cohesively.


  • Workplace Stillness - This is a practice to give people a chance to catch their breath, reflect, observe reality, see new possibilities, and reduce workplace stress. We engage in several exercises on centering and concentration. We learn a few yoga stretches to ease body tension and relax the mind.


Tapping Into Wisdom 

  • Acknowledging – Acknowledgment is a verbal honoring of the ‘being’ of someone. We make a distinction between praise and acknowledgement and how to access the wisdom of ourselves and others by acknowledging who we/they are.  

  • Reflective Thinking - Periodically stopping to review is the key to learning. We observe what was intended, planned, and executed; what was in the way; what was missing; and what made it work well. We learn how to use a quick assessment tool. 

Personal Mindfulness Skills 

  • Awareness of Impact - Being aware of the many areas where one’s thoughts, words and deeds have an impact makes us more mindful of our effectiveness. This awareness is foundational to systems thinking where the parts are inter-dependent on the whole and visa-versa. When we know we make a difference, it makes a difference.

  • Checking Assumptions – We engage in an exercise to help up recognize that assumptions lead to perceptions that ultimately dictate our decisions and actions. Understanding the factors that contribute to our assumptions help us prevent making errors in judgment.

  • Shifting Mind-Sets - Being able to move between the mind-set of an individual contributor, a team member, a knowledge container, and a leader (whether in a leadership position or not) is a personal skill that reduces frustration. This practice increases the state of being grounded amid all the changes and fluctuations in the workplace.  

Anne Neal-Dugdale has provided strategic planning and other high-stakes facilitation, coaching, and workforce/management/leadership training to businesses, non-profits, and the public sector for 21 years. She is also a certified licensed yoga instructor.  Her primary emphasis is to support individuals and organizations to optimize their gifts while improving their health and well-being at all levels.
